PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that his party will form govt in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as many parties are in contact with the PTI for this purpose.
Addressing a news conference here on Monday, he added that other political parties like Jamaat-e-Islami and Qaumi Watan Party of Sherpao were contacted by the PTI for forming government in KPK but his party would not buy votes for this purpose. “We’ve been given offers by an important personality for extending support for making of government in the centre,” he claimed.
He said that no one possessed political wisdom and stature like Imran Khan and therefore he was the most appropriate person for becoming opposition leader in the National Assembly.
He said that the PTI would chalk out its line of action for playing the role of an active opposition in the National Assembly very soon. He said that the Lahore accident badly dented PTI election campaign as Imran Khan was going to hold 13 public meetings in two days. “I and Javed Hashmi had to postpone election campaigns and rush to Lahore while our May 9 Islamabad rally was also very important,” he added. He said that the PTI gained recognition, support, votes and seats nationwide, although attempts were being made to snatch the mandate of the party.
He said that if the nation had given mandate to the PML-N, they had the right to form government. “And if we get the opposition role, we’ll fulfil this national responsibility,” he added. He said that the PTI would accept the elections results for the sake of democracy in larger national interest.
He said that there was a big question mark on transparency of elections in Punjab and Imran Khan had announced that the PTI would publish a white paper on it. “We’ve formed a committee for this purpose and the PTI will soon express its reservations,” he added.
He claimed that the election in NA-230 was badly rigged and president Asif Ali Zardari was responsible for the rigging. “We are not given result despite lapse of two days. The PPPP candidate held election staff hostage, committed firing and burnt ballot boxes,” he alleged.
He said that the electronic media showed him successful with a lead of 16000 votes but the result was not being handed to him. He said that the PPP candidate Inayat Ali Rahmo attacked polling station NO. 38, held the staff hostage and burnt entire ballot boxes but police did not take any action. He said that the presiding officer submitted an application for action against the attackers but no action was taken against them as they were being backed by the president Asif Ali Zardari. He said that he was being barred from going to Sindh but he would go there come what may.
