MULTAN
Managing Director (MD) of Multan Waste Management Company (MWMC) is learnt to have resigned from his office due to differences with the Chairman.
Sources claimed that the MD Dr Akhtar Alamgir resigned on unnecessary interference of Chairman Rai Mansab Ali, District Officer Workshops Faheem Ahmad and other officials of district government in his affairs. Sources added that the confrontation between the MD and the Chairman increased during recent interviews held for appointments against various vacant seats of the company. The MD had also risen objections on utilization of company’s funds by the Chairman and hiring of a building on very high rent as Company’s office near the residence of Chairman.
The MD, however, dispelled the impression that he had any rift with the Chairman, saying he resigned from his office because of personal business. He said that although he had offers from abroad, he would prefer to serve this land as he was son of this soil.
It may not be out of place to mention here that one MD of the company has already resigned while Dr Akhtar is the second one who quit this office. Resultantly, the company is faced with a highly chaotic state of affairs and issues like theft of petrol and diesel as well as tyres, embezzlement of funds and mismanagement are risen by the media.
Meanwhile, the district administration constituted special teams to launch operation against profiteers and hoarders in the district. Additional District Collector Ali Anan Qamar while addressing the district price control committee meeting said that everybody should work under the prescribed laws of the district government and abide by control rates.
He said that ‘commission mafia’ exploit farmers who worked day and night for their crops in the fields. He said, they were trying that growers could get due wages for their produce. However, he said farmer too should observe prices of products fixed by the government before selling their crops. He said price control magistrates had got active to control profiteering wherever found in the city.
