Gujranwala Division Commissioner Khawaja Shamail and local public representatives urged the people to seek inspiration from sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and fight against tyranny, dictatorship and terrorism to put the country on path to progress and development.
Addressing an important meeting held to review Ashura security arrangements, the commissioner said that at Karbala, the family of Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) especially his grandson offered supreme sacrifice to uphold the golden principles of Islam against the undemocratic and dictatorial powers.
The commissioner said that the incident of Karbala is remembered as a historic event which set lasting example of making sacrifice for upholding truth and principles. Jihad fought by Hazrat Imam Hussain along with his companions is a real example of courage, patience perseverance and determination.
On the occasion, MPAs Manshaullah Butt, Muhammad Ikram, Zulfiqar Ghauri, Sialkot DCO Iftikhar Ali, DPO Muhammad Gohar Nafees and TMA Administrator Tajjamal Abbas Rana were also present. Manshaullah said, “Ashura gives us a message of making sacrifice for upholding the principles of truthfulness and Islamic values. The Muslim Ummah is passing through a difficult phase and confronting problems and challenges of extremism and terrorism. The Ummah needs the spirit of Karbala to overcome all difficulties. The best way to pay tributes to the martyrs of Karbala is to make commitment on the day to work and devote oneself for the development and strengthening of the nation.”
MPA Ikram narrated that the day is a reminder of how to stand up for the right with dauntless courage for freedom and justice and will serve as a glowing example for the entire humanity till the end of this world. He said Karbala will always be quoted as an example of determination and resolve, by a group of devotees who set the example of sacrifice and bravery against a despot. He said Hazrat Imam Hussain stood up to the dictator to protect Islamic values. His supreme sacrifice reflects the spirit of Islam which is against tyranny and despotism, he said.
“Let us pledge that we shall fight against tyranny, ignorance, dictatorship, terrorism, barbarism and violence in the light of the principles set by Hazrat Imam Hussain. Only then can we put our country on the path of development and progress,” he revealed.
In Mandi Bahauddin, a special meeting of District Peace Committee was held at the DCO Office with Punjab Minister Hameeda Waheed in the chair to review arrangements for security in the district.
DCO Imtiaz Niazi, DPO Taimur, Ulema and other government officials attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting, the minister said the Punjab chief minister had given her responsibility for forging unity and harmony among members of civil society and religious leaders and to assist the administration and police for maintaining peace during Ashura days.
She urged the participants to remain vigilance and ensure complete harmony among the Muslims to avoid any security mishap. Earlier, the DPO briefed the meeting about security plan. He said police were utilising all its resources to take measures for protection of Majalis and processions. The DPO added that with the cooperation of Ulemas, members of civil society and common public, the police would forestall any miscreant attempt to breach security measures.
