PESHAWAR - To participate in 'Azadi March', Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Parvez Khattak led a caravan comprising thousands of vehicles Thursday started its journey towards Islamabad aimed to join the main rally which is on way from Lahore to stage a sit-in in Islamabad against rigging in May 2013 polls.
The caravan first took start from the Peshawar Motorway late afternoon and from where it was led by Chief Organiser Saifullah Niazi, General Secretary Khalid Maswood and MPA Yaseen Khalil.
However, the caravan when reached Nowshera, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Parvez Khattak also joined it. The PTI's Azadi March procession was also joined by thousands of party workers gathered at the Motorway Interchange Nowshera.
Around six thousand vehicles participated in the long march, which were decorated by the supporters of PTI with party flags and Imran Khan posters.
The rally of PTI from Town-I was led by Zia-ullah Afridi, MPA Javed Naseem, PTI Town-I President Gul Bacha and MPA Shaukat Yousafzai. The rally from Town-II led by MPA Mahmood Khan, Rally from Town-III by MPA Yaseen Khalil and MPA Fazl Ilahi while rally from Town-IV by MPA Shah Farman and Ashtiaq Urmar while the woman wing rally was led Muramat Begum and Feza Zahir Shah.
The vehicles included buses, cars, flying coaches, wagons, motorbikes, bicycles, double cabin cars and pick-ups.
Addressing on the occasion, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Provincial General Secretary Khalid Maswood said that PTI Azadi March toward Islamabad will remain peaceful and no one would be allowed to resort to violence. However, he said that if the routes of the marchers were blocked through containers, they would remove all barriers.
He maintained that peaceful march is the right of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf and no one could deprive it of this right. He directed the party workers to reach Islamabad at all casts.
Likewise rally from Sawabi was taken out under PTI district President Anwar Haqdad, General Secretary Yousaf Ali and Provincial Health Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai.
While car rally from Mardan was led by MNA Ali Mohammad, MPA Iftikhar Mashwani, Tufail Anjumand and Obaid Mayar who also joined the main procession at Rashakai Interchange.
From district Charsadda, the rally was led by Zahoor Khan, District President of PTI, MPA Arif Ahmadzi and PTI District Vice President Dr Nadeem. Similarly, the march from district Buner was started under leadership of Moin Bacha and Sher Khan. Similarly, caravan from Swat under leadership of elected representatives was started and joined the main procession.
Large number of women activists led by PTI Women Wing Leader Mehar Taj Roghani also participated in the march. The women participants assured that they would not return from Islamabad until ouster of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
