GUJRANWALA - Police on Friday imposed fine on 12 people including a girl for smoking inside a Sessions Court premises.
Police said that District and Sessions judge Gujranwala had imposed ban on smoking in the court premises few days ago. Over violation of the ban police took into custody 12 persons including a teenager girl. The detainees were later released after receiving fine of Rs300 each.
DRUG ADDICT PRISONER DIES: A drug addict prisoner of Gujranwala Central Jail expired in District Headquarters Hospital. Police said that Akhtar, 51, was imprisoned in central jail over drugs paddling charges. Due to non-availability of drugs, condition of the prisoner deteriorated after which he was shifted to DHQ where he expired during treatment.
District and Sessions judge Tariq Iftikhar, taking notice of the incident, has constituted an inquiry committee headed by judicial magistrate and directed for investigation and presenting a report in this regard.
