Peace and Harmony Network Pakistan, an association of scholars and representatives from various religions, in its meeting has decided to continue its efforts to achieve peace and to promote harmony and coexistence in the society.
The meeting was presided over by Peace and Harmony Network Pakistan Chairman Pir Allama Muhammad Zubair Abid and Peace and Harmony Network Pakistan Secretary General Javaid William, who is also coordinator. While Allama Shakeel-ur-Rehman Nasir, Amarnath Randhawa, Tauqeer Baba, Tranjeet Singh, Mufti Ashiq Hussain and other religious leaders also participated in the meeting.
To promote national unity and peace, the meeting has also decided to start a national campaign soon after Ramazan to promote interfaith harmony. In the campaign, representatives from Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and other religions will jointly arrange interfaith peace conferences in different districts to achieve peace and promote coexistence among different religions and faiths.
During the holy month of Ramazan, the Peace and Harmony Network will also arrange an Iftaar-dinner in which scholars and notables from Muslim, Hindu, Christian, Sikh and others communities will be invited. Addressing the meeting, Allama Zubair Abid said that every religion teaches peace, brotherhood to protect rights of others and to promote tolerance. –PR
“We should have dialogue, understanding, cooperation, harmony and to remove misunderstanding among different faiths,” he said.
On the occasion, Peace and Harmony Network Coordinator Javaid William urged people from different faiths to restore compassion, respect and tolerance among one another so that the society might be called a balanced one. “We have to create an atmosphere where everyone may have religious freedom,” he said. Being a Pakistani, all citizens are equal and share equal rights in the state, he said.
Peace and Harmony Network is an initiative to bring peace and harmony in the society and the only purpose behind the setting up a network of different religions was to develop a social connection.
