KPK govt asked to implement doctors’ security plan

PESHAWAR - Young Doctors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have demanded the PTI-led provincial government to practically implement their proposed security plan at all major teaching hospitals of the province aimed to ensure security to the community.
Dr Asif Iqbal, Spokesman for Young Doctors Association while addressing a news conference here at press club on Friday, said the community had proposed a 22-points charter of demands to the previous ANP-led government in which a solid security plan for the protection of doctors at hospitals and at residential colonies was given.
Accompanied by the Association Senior Vice President Dr Jawad, Dr Alamgir, and Dr Riaz, he viewed the increasing cases of kidnapping for ransom of doctors were due to the failure of the law enforcement agencies. He said the incidents happened due to non-implementing of their proposed security plan.
Referring to the recent attempt of kidnapping of a renowned Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Shakir, he said it was happened in wake of poor security arrangements for the doctors’ community in the province. He also criticised the police and law enforcing agencies for failing to cope with the increasing incidents in the busiest provincial metropolis Peshawar city. He also expressed concern over not taking action against kidnappers.
In the proposed charter of demands, Dr Jawad said that they had suggested the government to take prompt security steps for doctors at all teaching hospitals, periphery units along with private clinics in the province. He further explained that the installation of security cameras at major teaching hospitals also being proposed in the security plan.
Similarly, he said the restriction on entry of irrelevant people to doctors’ enclave was also included in the comprehensive charter of demands. He said that the doctors had also proposed to issuance of AK-47 licences but they were even disallowed for carrying pistols for self-protection.
He said that it would be very difficult for them to continue health services due to poor security arrangements and non-implementation of specified designed plan in this regard.
The community demanded the government to implement the proposed security plan to ensure their protection and other their demands, otherwise they would be compelled to take extreme steps against it.
Commission takes step to end Patwari Culture:  In the light of instructions given by the chief minister KPK, commissioner Dera Ismail Khan has initiated practical measures to put an end to the traditional ‘Patwari Culture’ and corruption in the transfer of land ownership. 
The officers and officials of Revenue the Department of the division have been warned that negligence of any type in the implementations of chief minister’s directives will not be tolerated. 
The commissioner made it obligatory for all patwaries to regularly submit daily reports and to avoid the practice of engaging private assistance. “Strict disciplinary actions will be taken against those involved in the malpractices,” he warned.  The commissioner also directed the sub-registrar to send the Registration Memorandum to the Revenue Officers on regular basis and to send a copy of the same to commissioner and deputy commissioner as well. 
Moreover, he devised a comprehensive and clear strategy for the registrations and directed all the quarters concerned including, additional commissioner, deputy commissioners, additional deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners to ensure implementation of the same through their subordinates.
To redress public complaints, he also set up complaint centres at the offices of commissioner, deputy commissioner Tank and deputy commissioner D.I.Khan. Focal persons have also been appointed for the purpose.
