ISLAMABAD- Head of Taliban negotiating team JUI-S leader Maulana Samiul Haq today called on Interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali and briefed him about the meeting with Taliban’s political council in North Waziristan. The interior minister praised the Taliban’s committee for its efforts to restore peace in the country.
Speaking on this occasion, Maulana Samiul Haq said that God willing, two sides would find a way to end the decade-long insurgency. He said that both sides were determined to take the dialogue process forward. The meeting came a day after members of Taliban’s interlocutors returned from North Waziristan, where they held a meeting with TTP’s political councils.
Media reports say Taliban are willing to extend their ceasefire for another month if the government takes some concrete decisions regarding their demands. Taliban have repeatedly called for the release of non-combatants, including women and children.
