One more polio case detected in Khyber Agency

BARA- Another polio case surfaced in Khyber Agency today, taking the total number of polio cases in the country to 62.
The latest case was reported in a 27-month-old boy Mir Fayyaz, a resident of Tehsil Bara of Khyber Agency. Since January to date, a total of 48 cases of polio have been reported in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). Four cases are reported from South Waziristan.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Army has sought 60,000 polio vaccines from Ministry of Health in the wake of travel restrictions imposed by World Health Organisation (WHO) against polio spread.
In a letter written by army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) to Health Ministry, it is said that 60,000 oral polio vaccines be provided to army as its personnel are scheduled to travel abroad for UN Peace Mission, short courses and those on deputation.
