LAHORE - The gross excess to the little girl in Lahore brought hundreds of people to the streets on Saturday. Some protesters even demand hanging the savages publicly and urged the government to take steps to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
Members of civil society, parents, and schoolchildren came on roads to vent their rage over the savagery. The protesters were chanting slogans against lawmen for their failure to cage the beasts.
Police launched a hunt for pedophiles after the media broke the news that a five-year-old girl had been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in critical condition late Thursday.
The hapless girl went missing Thursday morning when she was playing outside her house in Mughalpura. Police registered a case against unidentified people on the complaint of her father but did nothing till late Thursday, when the minor was reported hospitalised. The incidents of rape and gang-rapes are on the rise in the Punjab province. The Punjab police registered 1,526 rape cases and 109 gang-rape cases during the first seven months of this year.
