Saifur Rehman back in action

ISLAMABAD - Former head of Ehtesab Bureau and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s close aide Saifur Rehman will play a major role in projects to be undertaken in connection with Pakistan-China Economic Corridor, The Nation has learnt through official sources.
According to these sources, Saif had been inducted back on the orders of the ‘high-ups’. Mr Saif earned ‘fame’ for his handling of the accountability cases during the past tenure of Prime Minister Sharif. He had been sidelined earlier and even shunned by the Sharifs but it seems he is making a comeback.
Saif attended the first meeting of Energy Planning Working Group of Pakistan-China Economic Corridor on Tuesday. A delegation of 29 Chinese officials “Yes I’m not holding any office and just a businessman now,” Saif told this scribe. He said he was participating in this intergovernmental meeting as an investor. Saif denied any role in LNG deal with Qatar and said he was looking after his business in Qatar. “There have been news of my involvement in LNG deal with Qatar Gas, but these are baseless,” Saif said. It was alleged that in LNG deal Saif played a role as a middleman between government of Pakistan and Qatar and got a handsome share.
