Shoot-at-sight orders issued in Karachi

KARACHI - The Interior Department has taken tight security measures for Muharram in the city, as over 15,000 law enforcement personnel are deployed to foil any terror bid, besides installing CCTV cameras and walkthrough gates. Moreover snipers in civvies, sniffer dogs and equipped bomb disposal squad would be ready to cope any situation. Security personnel deployed on the security of the processions and Majalis-e-Azza and all other sensitive points are bound to show their new identity cards issued by Police Department to recognise the terrorists in police uniforms. Sources pointed out that the law enforcement agencies had also been directed to maintain law and order at all costs and shot miscreants at sight. It is pertinent to mention here that multiple threats and warning looming in the city. Agencies have indicted various sort of modus operandi would be used by the terrorists to sabotage Muharram security. The tactics would be used by the terrorists including the motorbike with suicide bomber, explosive-laden vehicles, firing, acid throwing and target killing of clerics, specifically of those who have arrived from India and Iran. Police have been directed to close all markets in the downtown and other sensitive areas during 9th and 10th Muharram and completely block the vehicular traffic without entry passes issued by police. BDS officials are responsible to make a through search of the place before any procession and Majlis while police removed the trees creating hurdles in the monitoring of the processions though close circuit cameras. It is pertinent to mention here that agencies have warned about the threat that Al-Qaeda backed Junduallh dispatched militants with the target to hit to Zakireen of Majlis-e-Azza (clerics and scholars) arrived in the country from India and Iran.According to the reports, federal intelligence agencies have warned law enforcers about the possibilities of attacks on clerics especially those reached Pakistan for Muharram-ul-Harram and addressing larges crowed of Majalis. Communiqu received by concerned security agencies revealed that Hamza Joffi, mastermind of Jundaullah, sent a group of terrorists under the command of Gull Khan with a task to target scholars and clerics. On the other side, security agencies have also started strict vigilance of the suspected terrorists enrolled under forth Schedule. Secrete agencies have also informed Sindh police about the arrival of four suspected terrorists from Rahimyar Khan. Report notified that one of the suspected terrorists was hiding in Taiser Town, Lyari Expressway, another residing in Disco Bakery, Gulshen-e-Iqbal, and two were hiding in Gharibabad Goth located in Sohrab Goth.
