Lahore - Tehreek Nifaz-e-Fiqa Jafria Multan leader Allama Nasir Abbas was gunned down by unidentified men near FC College here on Sunday night.
He was on his way home in his car after attending Majlis-e-Aza at Shadman when he was intercepted by attackers on a motorcycle. Allama Nasir’s car was sprayed with bullets, resulting in his fatal injuries.
A few days ago, leader of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) Maulana Shams Muawiya was also killed in Lahore by unidentified people.
Allama Nasir Abbas was rushed to Shaikh Zayed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. His student Ghulam Abbas and driver Munawar remained unhurt in the incident.
Followers of Nasir Abbas gathered at the hospital after hearing the news and staged a protest demonstration. They were chanting slogans against the government. The furious demonstrators insisted that they would not bury his body till the arrest of accused. They said they would place the body in front of Governor’s House to register protest again the brutal killing.
Heavy police contingent reached the spot of attack and at the hospital. However, no senior police officer was present at the crime scene.
Meanwhile, Tehreek Nifaz-e-Fiqa Jafria and Tahafuz-e-Azadari Council have announced three-day mourning. Millat-e-Jafria Secretary Information Hamid Ali Mosvi said killings could not stop them from speaking the truth.
Allama Sajid Naqvi has also condemned Nasir Abbas’ killing. In a statement issued form London, MQM chief also denounced the killing.
According to police sources, unidentified bikers opened fire at the vehicle of Allama Nasir in Muslim Town area near FC College.
Allama Nasir was in Lahore for the past few days to attend Majalis.
A late-night report said that protesters blocked The Mall by putting Allama Nasir’s body in front of the Governor’s House. The body was being shifted to another hospital for post-mortem when protesters forcefully stopped the ambulance and staged a demo.
On December 03, at least six people including a leader of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen were gunned down in a spate of sectarian killings in Karachi. MWM’s deputy secretary general Maulana Deedar Ali Jalbani was on his way to his office located at Ancholi Society along with his security guard-cum-driver, Sarfaraz Ali, from his residence located in Ayub Goth when armed motorcyclists intercepted his car near NED University and sprayed bullets on them.
A few days later, on December 06, Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat’s Maulana Shamsur Rehman Muawiya was targeted and killed in Lahore. ?
