2.5kg heroin seized

RAWALPINDI - The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) on Tuesday foiled a smuggling bid and arrested a passenger in drop-line of Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport (BBIIAP) after recovering 2.5 kg heroin from his possession.
The ANF also seized huge quantity of narcotics during various operations in the country and nabbed 12 drug peddlers besides impounding 4 vehicles, informed ANF Headquarters spokesperson.
The spokesman added that the ANF staff, deputed at BBIIAP, on a tip off stopped a suspected passenger at drop-line. During the search, 2.5 kg heroin was found in the passenger’s luggage.
The passenger, Tauqeer Amjad son of Noor Hassan, hails from Hafizabad. The passenger was to catch Jeddah bounded flight number EK-615, the spokesperson said, adding that a case was registered and investigation were underway.
He also informed that the ANF launched 7 operations in Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, Hyderabad and Karachi and recovered 18 kg hash, 3.10 kg heroin, 440 Ecstasy Tablets, 375 bottles of liquor and 5 bottles of wine. The ANF arrested 12 persons and seized 4 vehicles in the same connection.
