ISLAMABAD-The Jamaat-e-Islami filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, challenging the Protection of Pakistan Act.
The petition said that shoot at sight permission to the law enforcement agencies under the law clashes with the right of life under the constitution.
Some other clauses of the law are also against the constitution, according to the petition, and pleaded to the apex court to declare the Protection of Pakistan Act as null and void.
MNA Jamshed Dasti had earlier challenged the law in the Islamabad High Court. Dasti, in his plea, called the law violating the fundamental human rights.
The bill passed by the parliament was recently signed into an act of law by the president.
