ISLAMABAD- Security has been placed on high-alert across Pakistan following the launch of an operation against terrorists in North Waziristan Agency.
In the federal capital a decision has been taken to deploy Rangers at all important buildings and check points while police presence has been increased. The checking of vehicles entering and exiting the city has also been heightened. Security has increased at sensitive areas of Karachi while barriers have been placed in the red zone. Law enforcement agencies have also increased checking of vehicles.
In Lahore and other cities of Punjab, security has been placed on high-alert while vacations of police personnel have been cancelled. Additional police has been deployed at entry and exit points of cities in the province. Fool-proof security arrangements have also been made at cantonment and army areas. Apart from increasing security across the province the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also declared emergency at government hospitals in Peshawar.
