Sale of ‘dead meat’ goes unchecked


OKARA - Owing to negligence and connivance of the District Administration, butchers are selling rotten meat of dead and unhealthy animal’s at large scale.
The citizens alleged that butcher slaughtered the animals at homes rather than at slaughter houses and were selling contaminated meat to the consumers.
They said that butchers were also fleecing the people by increased rate and reduced weight as they fixed no rate lists at their shop and were charging at will.
Further they complained that no hygienic rules were being followed at the meat shops as road dust and flies continue to contaminate the openly hanging meat.
Moreover, they said that butcher increase the weight of meat through water pressure causing both financial and health loss to the consumers. The citizens have demanded the high-ups to take notice of the situation and criminal negligence of the administration.
Three held in raids; hashish seized:  The police during raids in various places arrested three criminals and recovered hashish from their possession.
As per detail, on the directions of DPO Dr Haider Ashraf, the police conducted raids in Sidra Ghafoor Town Mohalla Aziz Park and Jundraka and recovered 520 gram of hashish from drug-pusher Mohammad Arshad, 120 gram from Imran and 310 gram of hashish from Mohammad Hussain. The police registered cases against them.
Meanwhile, a motorcycle was stolen from the lawn of DHQ Hospital here. Nadeem, son of Tanveer, a resident of 54/4L parked his bike OKL-1718 in the lawn of DHQ Hospital and went inside to enquire after a patient. However, when came back he found his bike missing. The police have registered a case.
It is to be noted that over the past one year more than 130 motorcycles and three cars have been stolen from the DHQ Hospital whereas the police have appeared helpless to find any clue to the criminals involved in the theft.
