SHIKARPUR- Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that the current famine situation in Thar areas is a natural phenomena, However, Sindh government is trying its level best to overcome it.
Relief services are being provided to the famine stricken people in Thar area without any discrimination, while Sindh government has declared the Thar area as a calamity-hit, where all out efforts are being made to ensure supply of food and other relief goods, including fodder for domestic animals in good quantity, he said while addressing a press conference at Kot Durani, Garhiyasin today.
Replying to a question, Qaim said that the enquiry commission headed by Sindh Chief Secretary was constituted to conduct an enquiry against the divisional and district officers concerned involved in negligence in discharging their duties to redress the peoples grievances and resolve their outstanding problems facing by the people in Thar area.
He said the officers found failure in taking preventive measures against the threat of famine in Thar area would be punished under law after receiving the commission report.
The Chief Minister further said that the founder Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was great national political Hero who wanted to make Pakistan as an atomic power and while accepting the challenges from India and other developed countries, Shaheed Bhutto fought for Kashmir cause.
Replying to other question about the growing adverse situation of law and order in Sindh, the Chief Minister claimed to crush the criminal elements to bring back the peace and tranquility at any cost so that the people could take a sigh of relief and be able to run their life affairs in peaceful and congenial atmosphere.
Shah denied that he was not powerless Chief Mminister but he said that he was exercising his full powers to rule the province while remaining under the discipline of the party.
To a question about the meeting with angry PPP leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim at Makhdoom House, Shah said that Makhdoom was the President of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) and he went to Makhdoom House in capacity of a worker to meet the central leader Makhdoom Amin Faheem as usual and there was no differences between them.
Earlier the Chief Minister addressed the PPP office-bearers and workers.
