Rape victim, family protest against police

SIALKOT - The ill-fated gang rape victim girl, her parents and hundreds of the other people Saturday staged a demonstration in front of the office of DPO at Kutchery Chowk as a protest against the police for not arresting the accused kidnappers-cum-rapists. The protesters were holding banners and placards and they chanted slogans against police, alleging that the influential rapists were still at large and they were continuously threatening the girl and her family in the village. They also alleged that the senior police officials were patronising the accused and were also reluctant to arrest them. The victim Iqra Bibi (16 years old) and her family also staged a peaceful sit-in there, demanding immediate arrest of the accused. The victim also urged Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to ensure early arrest of the rapists and provide her justice. She warned top commit self-immolation in front of the CM House Lahore if she was not provided the justice. She also asked the CM to provide her security. A few days ago, two accused Imran and Ghulam Abbas kidnapped local labourer Bashir Ahmeds young daughter Iqra Bibi at gunpoint from her house in village Kakwaal, Head Marala, Sialkot. The accused took her to an unknown place where they gang raped her and later they threw her in her village fields following her critical condition. Talking to the newsmen, she said that the Head Marala police have registered a case against the accused, but the accused were politically influential. When contacted, Sialkot DPO Bilal Sadiq Kamiyana said that that the accused would be arrested soon.
