Raid to rescue Ali Haider Gilani in Nowshera fails

In an attempt to recover Ali Haider Gilani, son of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani who was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen from Multan on May 9, Nowshera police on Thursday conducted an operation in Misri Banda area of Akora Khatak and rescued a hostage.
Talking to media persons, the DPO said that operation was launched on reports that Haider Gilani was being kept there but the operation led to rescue of another person and search for  Ali Haider Gilani was still underway.
The rescued individual named Abdul Wahab told that the son of former prime minister was held captive with him but the abductors moved him elsewhere few days ago.
Four other men and two women were arrested during operation.
Ali Haider Gilani was kidnapped on May 9 after gunmen shot dead two of his associates in an election meeting.
Former prime minister Gilani had sought help from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) for the recovery of his son. Ali Haider, a candidate from PP-200, was kidnapped after he addressed a corner meeting in Farrukh Town in the limits of the Seetal Marri Police Station.
Eyewitnesses say the gun-wielding attackers forced him into a numberless car and vanished in no time, but before laying their hands on Haider, they gunned down his personal secretary Mohiuddin Bhutta and a bodyguard.
