ISLAMABAD - The senior most Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan has said that the judges are entrusted with a great task by the Constitution for ensuring the fundamental rights of the people. Addressing the certificate-awarding ceremony on the conclusion of one -week course on orientation of new laws for Additional District and Sessions Judges from all over Pakistan including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan held here in the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA), Islamabad, on Saturday, he said that since the administration of justice was a divine attribute, hence, the judges must work with dedication and devotion so as to impart speedy and easy justice to the litigant public. About the role of Additional District judges he said that they occupy a unique position in the hierarchy of district judiciary. Being the highest tier of the subordinate courts, Additional District Judges have a special responsibility as they face many daunting challenges including case and court management. Such like orientation programs will play a great role to update their information and enhance their insight in maintaining quality and timeliness in delivering justice, he opined. Speaking the problems being faced by the district judiciary he said that the efforts are being made to overcome the problems such as shortage of judges and their very heavy workload, abysmal infrastructure. He said that this great country came into being in the wake of stupendous efforts and heroic struggle of the masses; hence, it needs unity of purpose. It needs action and requires all of us to work together to build this country stronger and stronger. As the country faced problems and challenges in the formative phase and even by now is facing several problems and challenges with a little difference of degrees, such problems and challenges come in the ways of nations, but I am certain that we will overcome these problems and challenges, he opined. He also shed light on the momentous struggle launched by all segments of the society for the restoration of judiciary in the country. Earlier, DG Federal Judicial Academy Parvaiz Ali Chawla presented overview of the course. He said the noble objective of such like refresher and orientation courses was to equip the judges with latest information and skills and improve the administration of justice in the country, as justice for all becomes a reality. Kamran Basharat Mufti Additional District and Sessions judge spoke on behalf of the course participants. He lauded the efforts of the Academy both for the content of the course and selection of the resource persons. Hashim Abro, spokesman of the Academy conducted the stage proceedings. In the end, he gave away certificates to twenty course participants.
