ANKARA - The Pakistan government will construct a state-of-the-art education facility for the 2011 Van quake-hit people in eastern Turkey.A letter of intent (LoI) was signed here on Monday between the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (Erra) and the Turkish Prime Ministry's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (Afad). Erra Chairman Hamid Yar Hiraj signed the agreement on behalf of Pakistan and Afad Deputy Director General Sinan Yildiz represented Turkey. Erra Deputy Chairman Azeem Asif was also present on the occasion.Hiraj said the proposed education facility will be a long-lasting symbol of the Pakistan-Turkey friendship. He said the Pakistani nation was saddened by news of the Van earthquake and offered all-out assistance in rehabilitation process.Hiraj also referred to the Turkish contribution in rehabilitation after the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan. He said quality Turkish construction in the shape of quick impact projects such as schools and hospitals was visible in the rehabilitated areas.
