Protest as man killed during robbery

The residents of Samasatta and Moza Karpal blocked the DPO Office Chowk as a protest against killing of a person who put up resistance during a robbery in his house, and the police for allegedly not cooperating with the victims' relatives regarding the murder case.
Residents of Samasatta including Ahmad Ali, victim Muhammad Hussain's father, his uncle Juma Khan and others said that they had purchased land from Kalimullah but Umair, the seller's niece, wanted to get it back forcibly. On January 15, they alleged, Umair along with his fellows broke in the house and shot dead Muhammad Hussain on resisting. A case was registered by the Samasatta Police against Umair but the police had connived with the accused and taken a bribe of Rs1 million and released the accused after arresting them.
"We approached Investigation Officer Khizar Abbas but he said that he cannot do anything in this matter," they said. On the occasion, Muhammad Yaseen Jamaali, Nazeer Ahmad and others said that they owned shops at Moza Karpal Bus Stand where land mafia's leader Riaz Karpal along with Dr Aman Karpal and others had taken over their shops with the support of police. Moreover, they said.
DSP (Investigation) Jameel Chohan and in charge Security Inspector Bashaarat assured them that justice would be provided for them and a strict action would be taken as per law thereupon they dispersed.
When contacted, Former SHO Irshad Bukhari denied the allegations while DPO Sohail Zafar Chattha said that he would personally look into the case and if police officials were found guilty of receiving bribe, a strict action would be taken against them. TWO HELD: Two members of an inter-district criminals' gang were arrested with a car and 324 bottles of liquor. In another incident, DSP Ahmadpur East Syed Riaz Hussain Shah said that Saddar police station the liquor was being brought from Multan to Khanpur. The arrested accused including Muhammad Asghar and Abdul Rehman.
