KP govt asked to update Opp on peace talks

PESHAWAR - The opposition members in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Wednesday asked the ruling coalition to update them on the ongoing talks between the government and Taliban and also identify elements involved in recent incidents of terrorism after Taliban ceasefire.
Addressing on the assembly floor, Parliamentary Leader JUI-F Maulana Lutfur Rehman said that despite passing of one and half months since initiation of  dialogues process, the incidents of terrorism and extortion could not be fully stopped. “We favour the dialogue process as it is the only way to restore peace but it is responsibility of the ruling coalition to take the opposition into confidence and update them on progress made in the negotiation process,” he remarked.
He said that this war is not limited to Fata but it has been extended to other parts of the country while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is baldy affected in this wave of militancy. He said that both the opposition and ruling parties in KP are strong supporters of dialogue and they will support the government in this noble cause.
Commenting on the PPO, he criticised the Protection of Pakistan Ordinance and termed it clear violation of human rights. He said that the opposition parties would not allow the government to introduce such black laws.
Parliamentary leader Qaumi Watan Party Sikandar Hayat Sherpao said that an important session of the assembly was continued but officials of the Home Department and police are not present in the assembly.

He said if Taliban are seeking the release of their prisoners then they should also release the kidnapped persons who are in their captivity.
PPP Parliamentary Leader Mohammad Ali Bacha said that it is astonishing that Taliban have declared ceasefire while bomb blasts are still continued in the country. He said if we accept the government’s claim that a third force is involved in these violence incidents then it must take steps to identify this third force.
ANP Parliamentary Leader Sardar Hussain Babak also criticised the PTI government and urged it to take serious steps for restoration of peace in the province as people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have mandated them for peace. He said that they should not make lame excuses that all problems are inherited from the previous government.
PML-N MPA Orangzeb Nalota appreciated the steps of the government for initiating dialogues and said that if this process was opened earlier then thousand of casualties could have been avoided.
Responding to a question of opposition, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shah Farman said that the situation has greatly been improved after the dialogues process.  He informed that this region has been the centre of international game for the last 35-year, adding that negotiation with Taliban was not an easy task and several attempts were made to derail the peace process but the government is committed to take it seriously.
