Delay in arrest of rapists bemoaned

SHEIKHUPURA
Umeed Foundation (NGO) Chairperson Benish Dar criticised the police inaction in a rape case and demanded the police high-ups to arrest the three rapists forthwith to ensure that the law took its course.
Talking to the mediamen, Benish Dar said that the victim along with her driver Anwer was on the way back to village Meeranpur after attending a court hearing. When they reached near QB Link Canal bridge, three accused including Mansha, Khyzar Hayat and another intercepted them. The accused held hostage the driver and took the woman to a crop field where they raped her. She lamented that the accused were still at large and due to their political influence, the police appeared to be reluctant to go against the rapists despite the fact that they had committed a heinous crime.
Benish Dar demanded the IGP, RPO and DPO to take notice of police inaction and spring into action to bring the culprits to the justice.
On the occasion, Human Rights Forum Chairman Ch Ameer Afzal also deplored the shameful incident and demanded the law enforcement agencies to take effective action against the accused.
