QUETTA - Supreme Court Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani Monday said that non-state actors are involved in terrorist activities and emphasised the need for effective imposition of law to curb these elements.
Addressing a ceremony organised by the Balochistan High Court for launching of a book on the issue of terrorism, CJP said that the culture of intolerance needs to be eliminated. Non-state actors were damaging the image of Islam and lack of culture of tolerance was a cause of terrorism, he added.
Justice Jilani said that non-state actors promoted terrorism in the country and it was these same elements which distorted Islam. He said these elements had created a mindset which had to be changed. He added that murder of any individual, regardless of his or her religious belief, was the murder of entire humanity.
The CJP said that terrorism had existed throughout history and in every religion. He stressed the need to take measures for the imposition of law in letter and spirit to bring a balanced system in society. He said that culture of intolerance gives rise to terrorism.
Justice Jillani underlined the need to promote education as it was a vital tool for the progress and prosperity of nations."There was a time when Muslims ruled half of the world, especially, when the biggest library of the world 'Baghdad Library' was functioning.
The CJP directed office-bearers of the Supreme Court and Balochistan Bar Association and other lawyers to play their due role for the rule of law. He assured them of his cooperation to resolve issues faced by judiciary and legal fraternity.
