Saifullah urges govt to increase health, education outlay


LAKKI MARWAT - Pakistan Muslim League (Likeminded) Chairman and former federal minister Salim Saifullah Khan inaugurated the three-day anti-polio drive at a function in Ghaznikhel on Friday.
He along with DCO Nisar Ahmad, EDO health Dr Abdul Ghaffar Wazir and Agency Surgeon Dr Arif Wazir administered drops to children and said that the practice of immunize oral polio vaccine to the kids was not un-Islamic. He said that those who were spreading wrong propaganda against OPV were the enemies of children. He assured that he would use his influence to convince unwilling parents on vaccination of their children under the age of five years. “Islam emphasis on us to look after children and take care of their health”, he said, adding that parents’ refusal from kids immunization is against the teachings of Islam. He asked the government to divert its all resources to health and education sectors so as to provide better healthcare and educational facilities to the people. Saifullah also called upon the elders, tribal chiefs and prayers leaders to sensitise people especially parents about the usefulness of oral polio vaccines for children health.
Earlier, EPI coordinator Dr Hafeezullah and Polio Eradication Officer shed light on the latest data of polio confirm cases and said that the campaign would be launched in high-risk union councils of the district and adjacent frontier tribal region.
Meanwhile, district administration, police and army officials paid a visit to Lucky cement factory on Friday. They held a meeting with the management of the cement producing industrial unit and discussed with them matters pertaining to the security of factory and its workers.
Officials said that the law and order situation was completely under control besides the personnel of law enforcement agencies were on high alert to cope with any mishap and untoward situation. They assured that all out efforts would be made to provide security to the factory and its workers.
Lucky Cement General Manager, Muhammad Shabir and deputy general manager Muhammad Tariq Anwar briefed the officials about internal and external security measures adopted for the safety of factory and its employees.
