IUB plans to promote local culture and literature

BAHAWALPUR - The Islamia University of Bahawalpur will play a key role for the promotion of local culture and literature as it has planned to publish the literary work of local writers and poets in collaboration with civil society.
“The IUB will introduce and preserve the rich cultural and literary heritage of Bahawalpur and Cholistan at international level,” said Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar while addressing a ceremony held to launch a book written by Dr Muhammad Shahzad Rana.  It is titled “Dr Abdul Salam Khursheed, Work and Personality”.
“It is the responsibility of teachers and researchers to explore and promote knowledge to flourish literature and the compilation of books based on research work is really a commendable job,” the VC said.
 He also advised the university teachers to actively took part in research activities and try to get published their research papers in the International Research as they would be awarded cash prizes on every published research paper.
He appreciated the efforts of Dr Muhammad Shehzad on his remarkable work on the renowned person, Abdul Salam Khursheed, who earned fame in teaching, journalism and research. Quaid-i-Azam Medical College Principal Dr Haroon Khursheed Pasha in his address remarked that research is necessary in social sciences for social progress and to give right direction to the society for better living and we could give new dimensions to promote social values through this way for healthy society.
Dr Javed Iqbal, Dr Sajjad Paracha, Dr Munir Azhar, Assistan Director, Public Relations, Bahawalpur, Nasir Hameed, literary figure Prof Qudratullah Shehzad, Cholistan Development Council’s Farooq Khan and  Razia Malik also addressed the participants and termed the author’s work remarkable.
