MULTAN - The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) has caught 8,914 power pilferers red-handed and imposed fine worth over Rs128 million on them during the first half of ongoing financial year 2011-12.
According to Mepco sources, the power thieves were caught by the intelligence and surveillance teams of Mepco and fine money worth over Rs42 million was recovered from them. Out of total, as many as 6880 power thieves were from domestic category and they faced fine to the tune of Rs. 74.9 million. Similarly, a total of Rs14.6 million fine was imposed on 495 commercial consumers, Rs19.5 million 70 industrial consumers, Rs17.9 million1464 tube-well consumers and Rs9.72 lac other consumers.
The surveillance teams caught 3126 power thieves from Cantt division, 1380 Mumtazabad, 717 Moosa Pak, 642 City, 630 Khanewal, 149 Khanewal second, 403 Mian Channu and 1876 Shujabad.
Mepco promote 11 LS’s
Meanwhile, the Mepco authority has issued orders for the up-gradation of 11 line superintendents-11 to the post of line superintendents-1 here on Tuesday. The promotion board of Mepco approved the promotions of line superintendents from distribution wing. Those who got promotion included Shah Nawaz from Arifwala, Muhammad Rizwan Sahiwal Rurl, Muhammad Sarwar Qaboola, Muhammad Kaleem Saraye Sidhu, Karam Deen Haji Sher, Mushtaq Ahmad Burewala, Muhammad Saleem Tibba SultanpurAshiq Hussain Bahawalnagar second, Abdul Aziz Shah Sadar Deen, Muhammad Ikram Multan and Malik Muzaffar Hussain regional training centre.
