MULTAN - Jamaat-e-Islami Central leader and former MNA Hafiz Salman Butt has said that the days of corrupt rulers have been numbered as the judiciary, media and masses have arose.
Addressing a news conference here at local JI office on Thursday, he added that the Supreme Court verdict against prime minister was in line with the Constitution and law and the prime minister should surrender himself for arrest. He demanded the NAB to arrest all the accused including prime minister and produce them in the apex court.
He asked the government to announce interim government with the consultation of all opposition parties forthwith besides the announcement of the date for general elections. He warned that all chowks of the country would turn into Tehrir Chowk if the elections were not declared. He stressed upon the election commission to make arrangements for holding free and fair elections in the country. He warned that the JI would not let any undemocratic force commit ambush on democracy and masses would recover each looted rupee from the corrupt elements.
Answering a question, he said that Indian border aggression and expulsion of hockey players from league was an answer to those who offered Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India. He said that giving MFN status to India without resolving Kashmir dispute was deviation from the basic and principled stand of Pakistan. “It is tantamount to rubbing salt to the wounds of Kashmiris,” he maintained. He declared that the JI fully supported Kashmiris and it would mark Kashmir Day with national spirit on February 5.
NSC TO ISSUE DOLLAR BONDS: Director General National Savings Corporation (NSC) Zafar Mahmood Sheikh disclosed on Thursday that his corporation was going to issue dollar bonds very soon to facilitate expatriate Pakistanis in making investments at their homeland.
Addressing a news conference here at Circuit House, he added that all complications in purchase of Student Welfare Bonds were being removed to facilitate the youth. He declared that NSC would soon introduce new attractive schemes.
He told the journalists that the NSC collected Rs. 1350 billion during last five years because of hard work of workers. He told the journalists that the national savings departments played key role in development of Malaysia and Turkey and therefore he wanted to follow the same model. He said that the NSC had so far collected Rs. 250 billion against Rs. 224 billion target set for ongoing year. “It reflects masses trust in the NSC,” he claimed. He said that a proposal regarding spending money on development projects collected by the NSC was also sent to the government.
Answering a question, he said that the process to induct 1200 new workers in the corporation would be launched soon and all appointments would be made on merit. He revealed that all the automation plan for all eight regions of the corporation was being launched soon and the federal government had assured that the PC-1 of this project would be approved. “Only this  project would create 450 new jobs in IT department,” he added. To a query, he said that the problems being faced by the workers would be vanish once the process of their promotions resumed.
SIT-IN: The activists of Minhaj Youth Wing staged a sit-in at Chowk Nawan Shehr on Thursday, asking the government to accept demands risen by their leader Allama Tahir ul Qadri.
Dozens of men, women and kids accompanied by the members of Saifi Tehrik blocked Nawan Shehr Chowk and refused to vacate the road until the demands of Allama were accepted. They declared that they would start march towards Islamabad if their leader ordered them. Holding national flags, placards and banners inscribed with their demands, they blocked traffic and carried out non-stop sloganeering against the government.
