RAWALPINDI- A US citizen was stopped from boarding a flight after a pistol and some rounds were recovered from his possession, at Islamabad’s Benazir International Airport today.

Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel found a pistol and six to seven rounds of ammunition during checking. He was immediately taken into custody for probe. ASF officials said the US citizen was heading to a Middle Eastern country; however they did not name the country. If he fails to produce any evidence or permit for carrying a weapon, he will be handed over to police subsequently, they added.
The US citizen was identified as William Jones. It may be noted here that security was already beefed up across all major points including airports all over the country in view of security threat.
