Director General Immigration and Passports Zulfiqar Ahmed Cheema said that the corrupt and inefficient officials would be sent behind the bars if they were found negligent in their duties.
He said that effective measures were being taken to overcome the menace of bribery and corruption from the passport department and agents and their sub agents would never be allowed in and around the passport offices across the country. He said this while talking to the applicants and officials concerned during his visit to Regional Passport Office here on Monday.
The Director General said that 25,000 prolonged pending passports had been issued to regional passport office Sialkot while the rest pending 4,000 passports would also be issued till June 19.
He ordered the officials concerned to remain present on Friday and Saturday for distributing the passports to applicants. He announced that now the urgent passports would be issued to the applicants within a stipulated period of a week in a bid to provide maximum relief to the perturbed applicants.
The DG Passports also listened to complaints and issued on the spot instructions for their solution.
He also directed to ensure early installation of water coolers and air conditioners at regional passport office for facilitating visiting applicants.
No one to be allowed to destroy peace in society: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Shakeel Ahmed has said that energy crisis is a national issue and the present government is effectively working on war-footings to overcome the menace of power loadshedding.
He said that it was also the national obligation of every citizen to give up unnecessary usage of electricity due to shortage of power in the country, enabling the govt to get the nation rid of prevailing energy crisis at earliest. He stated this while addressing a meeting of District Load Management Committee here on Monday.
The DCO said that damaging government and public property was an illegal act and the government would never allow anyone to arson or destroy the peace of the society through their violent agitation, saying that peaceful agitation was the basic right of the very citizen but the people should never be violent while protesting.
He urged the trade bodies, labour, farmers and industries' representatives to be peaceful and ensure that no one would destroy the peaceful atmosphere while agitating, especially against the prolonged power outages in the region.
During the meeting, Syed Shabir Gillani urged the government to ensure early announcement of a schedule for electricity loadshedding for Sialkot's export-oriented industries.
SCCI representative Mian Muhammad Anwar told the meeting that the unbearable and uncontrolled worst power outages had crippled the export industries of city due to which a big decline had been recorded in the exports, causing a big financial loss of millions of dollars to the national exchequer, he added.
Additional SP Awais Malik, District Officer (Coordination) Malik Abid Hussain Awan, Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajraan President Mehar Ghulam Mujtaba, General Secretary Haji Ehsanul Haq Butt, Labour Federation Sialkot President Malik Waris, farmers representative Syed Shabir Gillani, Deputy Director Public Relations Malik Ghulam Abbas Awan and District Officer (Industry) Muzaffar Ansari also attended the meeting.
