Four policemen and five PAT activists sustained injuries in a clash established after the protesting activists blocked railway gates by setting tyres on fire and tried to stop Rawalpindi-bound Pakistan Express.
Led by PAT leaders Malik Shafiqur Rehman Awan and Malik Muhammad Sultan Awan, the activists took out a rally to protest against the attack on the residence of Tahirul Qadri in Lahore. The activists reached the railway gates and blocked the Gujranwala Road by setting tyres on fire. They also raised slogans against the government. The city police headed by SHO Khurram Gul Butt rushed to the spot and requested the protesters to disperse. But the charged activists started pelting bricks on the police team, injuring five cops including ASI Noor Ahmad, Constables Ali Ahmad, Talat Mahmood, and Muhammad Bashir Rasheed.
Thereupon, the police restored to baton-charge and aerial firing. As a result, five activists Malik Muhammad Sultan, Malik Naeem Arshad, Munir Ahmad, Malik Muhammad Munir and Zahoor Ahmad were injured. The police, however, also managed to apprehend some activists which were later set free.
