Pakistan awards scholarships to SriLankan students

Colombo- The Government of Pakistan through its High Commission in Sri Lanka has awarded SL Rs. 2 million worth of educational scholarships under the second phase of Jinnah Scholarship Program 2014.

The first phase of this auspicious scholarship program was held on June 5, 2014 in which SL Rs. 1.7 Million worth of educational scholarships were offered to 69 bright students.

Under this merit-based scholarship program, each successful student receives a stipend of SL Rs. 24,000. However, this year scholarships were awarded to twelve promising journalists so that they can pursue a yearlong diploma program at Colombo University.

The Government of Pakistan has been awarding Jinnah Educational Scholarships since 2005 and so far thousands of deserving students have benefited from this scheme. In addition to this, it also offers fully funded scholarships in medicine, engineering, pharmacy and dentistry to SriLankan students so that they can pursue professional education in Pakistan.
