Christian youth throws acid at Holi gathering

Karachi  - Five people were wounded Monday when a Christian youth threw acid on people celebrating Hindu festival of Holi in Karachi.
Police said that three Hindus and two of their friends were injured in the acid attack in Lasi Para area of Rahim Khan Goth in the remits of Model Colony police station. People had gathered at Sindhi School to celebrate Holi and the participants were throwing colours on each other when a Hindu youth Sameer had a clash with his Christian friend Sabir Mashi over some issue.
Sabir went outside and came back with a bottle of acid that hi threw on Samir and others. Sabir managed to flee the scene, leaving five people injured including 16-year-old Sameer, son of Shamoo, 18-year-old Sanjay Ramaish Lal, 15-year-old Ashook. Panic spread following the incident. Ramish and Sunny were taken to a nearby private hospital.
Police registered FIR 41/2014 against Sabir Mashi. SP Pir Muhammad Shah said that the incident has no political or religious factor behind it. It seems to be a result of a personal rift between friends. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah took notice of the incident and directed authorities concerned to take strong action against the culprit.
