Pirzada for Indian water purchase to quench Cholistan thirst

Federal Minister for Inter-provincial Coordination and Tourism Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada said that to avert the looming famine in Cholistan, water could be purchased from India. “If electricity and other essentials can be purchased from other countries then water can also be purchased to ameliorate effects of the drought in Cholistan.
He was addressing a gathering at Toba Kalay Par in Cholistan.
The minister said that he had met the Prime Minister and apprised him of the wrost situation. “I have suggested purchasing water from India to the Premier and if this project is approved then water shortage in all canals of Hasilpur will be ended,” he informed.
Riaz Pirzada revealed that PM Nawaz Sharif had imposed a ban on issuance of permits for hunting in Cholistan and attempts would be made for the establishment of a separate seat in Assembly for Cholistan.
The minister declared that solar energy project being executed in Cholistan would help to control energy crisis, adding that the project would bring about revolution in Cholistan. He added that shortage of water in the area would be solved permanently so that land in Cholistan could be brought under cultivation.
He said that including the allotment of lands in cholistan to the deserving cholistanis, people whose names were selected through a draw during 1983 would also get lands.–Staff Reporter
