MULTAN – Agri Forum Chairman Ibrahim Moghal claimed on Friday that entire CNG and industrial sector could be fed, if the government saves 330 million cubic feet gas currently being stolen daily.
He added that the country could earn Rs150 billion by selling 330 million cubic feet gas to the CNG and fertiliser sectors. He said that the gas loadshedding would also end within one week if the government succeeded to check gas pilferage. He pointed out that the power sector was being supplied 990 million cubic feet gas daily.
“This gas can be given to the fertiliser, textile and other industries if the government constructs new dams,” he suggested. He said that power sector was the largest gas consumer with 990 million cubic feet followed by domestic users 710 million and fertilizer 580 million.
textile and other industries 470 million, transport and CNG 330 million and small power units and steel mills 310 million. He said that a total of 3.86 billion cubic feet gas was being consumed in the country daily and it was being supplied to fertiliser companies at the cheapest rates. “Even yet they increase urea price every other day. The government should take notice and offer relief to the farmers,” he demanded.
