Police have registered a case against a newly elected MPA on the charge of raping a woman who was his servant.
Iram, a resident of village 60/NB, had mentioned in a complaint filed with the Jhal Chakkian police that her parents were domestic servants of MPA-elect Mehr Ghulam Dastgir Khan Lak and she was also living with her parents there.
She alleged that Lak raped her on November 10, 2012. She said in her application that she raised hue and cry but the accused did not take pity on her. The police have registered a case but the accused has not been arrested till the filing of this report. Police sources said that facts would be ascertained after the report of DNA test. Meanwhile, the MPA has denied the allegations and termed it a conspiracy against him.
PROTEST: Scores of people staged a demonstration against police and blocked the Sargodha-Khushab road for all kinds of traffic on Saturday. The demonstrators burnt tyres on the road and shouted slogans against Urban Area police officials. They said that a police squad had signalled motorcyclist M Bilal to stop when he was on his way to home from fruit market.
WHEAT: The Food Department has purchased 40,000 wheat bags at PR centre Shahpur so far. Assistant Food Controller Muhammad Khalid said that the growers were being facilitated and wheat procurement process was going on smoothly and without any impediment. He noted that 120,000 gunny bags had been distributed to the cultivators. He said that the procurement target would be achieved easily with the coordination of wheat growers and the Revenue Department. However, a number or growers eulogised the department for facilitating them.
