DERA GHAZI KHAN - Khushhal Khattak Express narrowly escaped a blast that blew up railway track near Shah Wali in Tehsil Rojhan of District Rajanpur here on Sunday.
The blast suspended railways traffic on Kashmore-Dera Ghazi Khan section.
According to the police, unidentified terrorists blew up the railway track in Tehsil Rojhan near ‘Miani Phattak’ Shah Wali resulting in the suspension of trains service between Kashmore and DG Khan.
The police said that the explosion left a two feet deep crater when Khushhal Khattak Express from Peshawar was about to pass through the area. The train, however, was stopped at DG Khan Railway Station after the blast. According to Bomb Disposal Squad, five to seven kg of explosive was used in the blast.
DG Khan RPO Rahmat Ullaha Khan Nazai told this scribe that nobody had accepted responsibility for the blast yet. The police, he said, were investigating the incident. To a question, he pointed out that monitoring of about 300-km-long track between Muzaffarghar-DG Khan and DG Khan-Kashmore was not that easy. The RPO informed that the district police and the Railways Police jointly look after the track on this section, adding that a foolproof security plan was being devised to avert any such incident and ensure safety of trains. Meanwhile, he said that repair of the damaged track had been started.
