SCCI urges govt to ensure law, order improvement



PESHAWAR - Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President, Yousaf Sarwar has urged the government to take solid steps for improvement of law and order situation in the province to promote exports.
“Exports from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were adversely declined due to instability and uncertainty,” Sarwar said in a meeting of SCCI held with a delegation of All Pakistan Commercial Exporters’ Association (Aeni group) led by its president Khushal Mohmand here at Chamber House on Thursday. In the meeting other members of the delegation included Khawaja Abdullah, Tariq Nazir, Abdul Jalil Mohmand, Fazal Malik, Malik Hayat, Sher Shah, Nazir Ahmad, Bakhtiar Ahmad, Saalim Khan, Mir Wali, Mohammad Rafeeq, and Saud Khan.
SCCI president assured the delegation of extending every possible support to make Annual Exhibition for the promotion of precious stones, handicraft and exports. Owing to poor law and order situation, he said that export of carpet, handicraft and gems stones were declined in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as foreigners were reluctant to visit the province due to the prevailing law and order situation, he observed.
He asked the government to take proactive steps for sustainable peace in the province. He also informed that the Annual Exhibition of Gems Stone had not been organised for the last four years in the province due to the circumstances in the region.  On the occasion, member of the delegation urged the SCCI to play their due role for resolution of their problems and take up the issue with both provincial and central governments.
