Police bust two inter district gangs of bandits

MINCHINABAD-The Minchinabad police claimed to have busted two gangs of hardened criminals involved in dozens of robberies and motorcycles lifting and arrested 15 members of the gangs.
The police also recovered cash amounting to Rs300,000, 15 motorcycles and illicit weapons from their possession.
Addressing a press conference here, DSP Shaikh Abid Akhtar said that the outlaws, residents of tehsil Minchinabad had been involved in inter-district and inter-provincial criminal activities, adding that the accused had terrorised people of Minchinabad through their criminal activities over the past few months. To rid people of the tehsil of the criminal reign, the DSP said that a special police party under supervision of SHO Ch Shafaqat Ali Dhillon was constituted to trace and nab the accused.
The police personnel succeeded in arrested nine members of inter-district outlaw involved in motorcycle-lifting and recovered 15 motorcycles from them, he added. The arrested suspects were identified as Muhammad Arshad, Muhammad Ahmad, Muhammad Sarfraz, Muhammad Altaf, Ghulam Murtaza, Abdur Razzaq, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Imran and Muhammad Azam. During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed to numerous cases of motorcycle lifting across the district, he said.
DSP Shaikh Abid disclosed the Minchinabad police team also busted another inter-provincial gang of robbers including a proclaim offender and arrested six members of the gang identified as Akhtar Husain, Suleman, Fayaz Ahmad, Muhammad Husain, Muhammad Hasan and Ghulam Muhammad (proclaim offender), who were involved in robberies , kidnapping for ransom and other heinous crime across Punjab. The police recovered cash amounting to Rs300,000 and illegal weapons from them. On the other hand, local social and religious circles have lauded the DSP for the effective performance and hoped that he would continue efforts to purge the Tehsil from crimes.
