Rs4m granted to 794 deserving Christians

FAISALABAD-An amount of Rs3.970 million out of Punjab chief minister grant was distributed to 794 deserving poor of Christian community on Saturday.
A function was held at TMA Hall where DCO Noorul Amin Mengal and MPA Azad Ali gave away the financial assistance cheques of Rs5,000 each to the needy persons of 4 categories including widows, orphans, disabled and ailing persons.
Speaking on the occasion, the DCO greeted the Christian community on Easter, and said that the Christian community was actively playing equal role for the development and progress of Pakistan and the district administration was taking measures for their welfare.
He said that Rs80 million funds had been allocated for the construction of Pinto Christian Hall. He said that their problems would be redressed on priority basis. He said that huge funds were being utilised for the development of Christian Town for providing public amenities for the community.
The MPA said that the government would not ignore the minority communities as they are equal citizens of Pakistan and playing vibrant role in different fields. He thanked Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for providing the grant for them. He said that the district administration had constituted six committees for scrutiny of the applications filed for financial grants.
