ISLAMABAD- Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) head Dr. Tahir ul Qadri dispelled the impression that he was refusing to holding talks with the government.
Addressing participants of the Inqalab march in front of Parliament House today, Qadri termed as “false propaganda” that he was not willing to talk to end the political impasse.
“A false propaganda has been launched against me that I am refusing to talk with the team sent by the government.” He said that no government’s delegation has been sent to PAT.
“We have taken to the streets for the supremacy of law and constitution. We are not ruining the constitution,” he said.
“We express complete solidarity with the army. We are among those who want to protect the sanctity of the state institutions.” “Is it democracy to shoot and wound 100 people and then refuse to register an FIR?” he questioned.
“Five days have passed since a session judge ordered registration of an FIR in Model Town killing case. But so far, FIR has not been registered. It is democracy or law.” Dr. Qadri said PAT believes in rule and law and constitution, but it should not be misconstrued as weakness.
Dr Tahiur Qadri backed away from his call to surround the Prime Minister House merely two hours after his announcement which he made during his speech to thousands of his followers in the capital’s Red Zone.
He asked his workers to retreat from where the Jawans (soldiers) of Pakistan Army were deployed. Qadri demanded the resignation of Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif saying that
Khawaja Saad Ragique, Abid Sher Ali, Khawaja Asif or any other PML-N leader could be appointed Prime Minister.
The PAT chief he had never refused talks and had not been approached by anyone. “I support negotiations but there are some procedures to enter talks,” he said adding that Nawaz Sharif was political scion of former military dictator Gen Ziaul Haq.
