PESHAWAR- The Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Sirajul Haq has said that political temperature has risen due to statements of Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri and warned that third force could take advantage from the tense political situation.
Addressing a press conference today, Sirajul Haq stressed the need for dialogue between the government and the PTI and PAT to resolve the crisis. He said if there is consensus among parties to resolve the crisis, early elections can take place and a date could be decided by all stakeholders and its approval obtained from the Parliament.
He pointed out that the entire nation was perturbed over the wrestling in Islamabad and warned that sit-ins would set a bad precedence for the future. He said his party supports change of government only and only through constitutional means.
Sirajul Haq said he supports the demands of PTI but do not agree with the way adopted to get them accepted. "I am against using flags as batons," he said. He said he discussed the demands of PTI with the government and other political parties and only one demand is not being accepted i.e. resignation of the prime minister.
The JI Amir said they are against dissolution of assemblies and desire that they should complete their tenure. Without naming the PTI move to resign, he said if any member wants to resign he can do so and if the PTI wants to leave the KPK government it is also free to do so. He said there was no rigging in KP and therefore the provincial assembly should complete its mandated term.
Sirajul Haq said because of political tension, the federal and KP governments are unable to devote attention to one million IDPs and they are suffering immense difficulties.
Earlier, addressing a meeting of his parliamentary party at Markaz-e-Islami, the JI ameer said they would support the chief minister during the vote of confidence. He said the party supported the no confidence motion to save the provincial assembly from dissolution.
