Timely polls in national interest: Shujaat

ISLAMABAD –Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that holding timely general elections would be better for the country and people.
Addressing a press conference along with PML-Q Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed and the representatives of the Pakistan Kissan Ittehad at the Muslim League House Wednesday, Shujaat said that the PML-Q would raise voice for farmers on every forum.
To a question, he said that elections will be held on time and there was no truth in reports regarding delay in the elections.
Shujaat said that during the PML-Q tenure, Pervaiz Elahi gave subsidy to farmers but the current government withdrew it and burdened the farmers. He said that free electricity should be provided to farmers for tube wells.
The PML-Q president said: “Agriculture plays important role in the growth of national economy and dream of agricultural development cannot be materialised without making the farmer prosperous. India gives free electricity for agricultural consumption and farmers of Punjabshould also be given relief for growth of national economy and agriculture.”
To a question, the PML-Q President said that he made no complaint about Manzoor Wattoo during his meeting with Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.
Mushahid Hussain said that the PML-Qgovernment had taken special measures for the development of agriculture and would talk to the prime minister to facilitate farmers.
Condemning the attacks on polio teams, he said that the nation should play its role for the eradication of polio, adding that all political parties today have signed a joint declaration in this regard.
Pakistan Kisaan Ittehad President Chaudhry Muhammad Anwar said electricity tariff had been spiked and subsidy on tube-wells withdrawn. He demanded that farmers in Punjab should be charged with the same flattariff applied in Balochistan.
