ISLAMABAD - The political stronghold of the ruling PPP in Larkana, Sindh, may be notorious for worst law and order situation, but has proved more lethal for a senior local journalist who dared write truth and saw his family members murdered a few months back.
Journalist Hafiz Khair Muhammad Hussaini told this horrific story as he walked into the National Assembly Press Gallery, telling his press colleagues that after failure to get justice from government machinery, he now attaches hope to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to impart justice. He told the journalists that his real son and three nephews were murdered in retaliation as he dared report an incident regarding the murder of a policeman by the area influential, namely local feudal Imdad Chandio, sons and brothers.
It was probably the first attempt of a journalist to write something against the very powerful dacoits and murderers who rule the roost in the region, but he was taught a lesson immediately which will continue to haunt him all his life. Story does not end here as the accused in the first place had tried to murder Khair Muhammad while he was offering prayer in the local mosque, but luckily escaped death as another person died due to the firing of Chandio’s men, Hussain states.
It has been seven months since Hussaini’s eldest son Muhammad was murdered, and he filed an FIR in the Wara police station, which, according to him, caused the death of his 3 nephews. The murderers have influential close relatives in police department. Hussaini accuses that area Deputy Superintendent Police Ali Bukhsh Dhakan helped the accused escape instead of arresting them, and also kept on pressurising him to take back his report against the Shafqat Chandio and his brothers, who are accused of murdering his son and nephews.
The area where Hussaini lives in is part of the constituency of Member National Assembly Amir Mugsi of Pakistan Peoples Party. And it is worth mentioning here that Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto Shahid belonged to the Larkana region, alarmingly the same area is facing the worst law and order situation for the last many years.
It is pertinent to mention here that Khair Muhammad is still under threat and the influential mafia keep on firing at the village of Hussaini from time to time to force him take back his first information report lodged in Wara Police Station, Larkana.
They are not just the murderers but fall under the category of terrorists who have killed the dear ones of Khair Muhammad.
As per available details, nephew of Shafqat Chandio was killed in cross-firing with Rangers and their two other relatives are recently caught for being a suspect involved in bomb blasts in Sindh.
The government has totally turned the deaf ears towards the repeated appeals of Hussaini to provide him and his family protection and now he has appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan, the last ray of hope for him, to provide him justice and punish the criminals.
It is worth mentioning here that government is not taking it seriously that highest ratio of crimes in the Larkana region was defaming their party and former leaders.
Earlier TheNation has reported that Larkana was on the top in electricity theft and again the reason was influential people of the area those threaten the WAPDA staff not to take any action against them.
