NOORPUR THAL - Women folk in Islam enjoy special respect and honour. Their sanctity and piety has to be observed under all circumstances. The women who constitute half of the country’s population are facing a lot of problems.
These views were expressed by speakers at a seminar on “Addressing Gender-Based Violence and Promoting women rights” which was organised jointly by the Aurat Foundation and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The social worker Asad Naseem conducted the proceedings while the focal person SACHEY Pakistan on Noor Din gave a welcome address to the participants.
The prime goal of this seminar was to highlight the importance of gender equity, said the programme manager Shoaib Ahmad the need of such seminar was rapidly growing as the awareness about “addressing gender based violence and promoting women, said the general manager SACHEY Pakistan Muhammad Amin. During the seminar, besides displaying banners and posters, awareness material including pamphlets and brochures were distributed among the participants. EDO-CD Khushab Malik Muhammad Tariq Akbar Awan, DO Social Welfare Muhammad Jaffar Bhutta, President Ghousia Welfare Society Noorpur Thal Maulana Arshad Naveed Haidri, educationist Perveen Akhtar and other renowned personalities also participated in this event.
