QUETTA - Bullet-riddled body of a missing journalist was recovered from a desolate area near Turbat city of Kech district on Saturday morning.The recovery of the bullet-riddled body sent a shock wave amongst journalists fraternity working in the restive Balochistan province as more than 14 journalists have lost their lives in Balochistan in the past three years. According to relatives of Razzaq Gul, he was kidnapped from near his residence on Friday evening and his body was found dumped near Singani Sar area near Turbat city.Local law-enforcement agencies moved the body to a government run-hospital for postmortem and later the body was identified as Razzaq Gul by his brother Muhammad Alam. Sources in the hospital said that deceased had received bullet in his head and chest that caused his instant death.According to local journalists, the deceased Razzaq Gul had not mentioned of receiving death threats from anybody, however, the style of his killing was quite similar with the killings of missing persons whom bodies were being regularly recovered in deserted areas of the province.Police handed over the body to heirs after completing legal formalities while according to local police an inquiry had been ordered to probe into the killing.The funeral prayers of deceased journalist were held in his hometown Singhani Sar which was attended by a large number of people. To protest the killing of journalist, a complete shutter down strike was observed in different towns of Kech district, including Turbat city, Tump, Mand and Hoshab.Meanwhile, Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) and Council of All Balochistan Press Club strongly condemned the killing and announced three-day mourning. The Council of All Balochistan Press Club has warned that it would launch a protest movement by June 1st, if culprits behind the murder were not apprehended.BUJ in statement strongly condemned the brutal murder of Razzaq Gul and said that several journalists had been killed in Balochistan for the past three years and not a single case had been properly investigated. It demanded for immediate arrest of culprits and formation of high level committee to investigate.
