QUETTA - The Balochistan High Court has taken notice of the kidnapping of eye specialist Dr Saeed Khan who was kidnapped on October 16.
Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust chairman has submitted an application in the Balochistan High Court, asking the court to take action against the doctor’s kidnapping.
The applicant pleaded that the LRBT hospital has been working since 2011, and has treated 984,275 patients and done 80,368 surgeries free-of-cost under the supervision of Dr Saeed Khan.
The court took notice of the kidnapping and sought a detailed report in this regard from the Home Secretary, CCPO Quetta and others authorities concerned on October 23. The court also directed the police station a concerned for taking a prompt step to ensure safe recovery of the kidnapped doctors.
It also directed the Balochistan Advocate General to appear before the court on October 23 in connection with the case.
Meanwhile, scores of doctors continued their strike across the province on second consecutive day, protesting against the kidnapping of Dr Saeed Khan. All the Out-Patient Departments (OPDs) at main hospitals in Quetta, including Helper’s Hospital, Bolan Medical College Teaching Hospital, Fatima Jinnah TB Sanatorium and Sandeman Hospital remained closed, as no doctor was present to provide medical assistance to patients. However, doctors attended patients at emergency wards.
