Army considering legal action

RAWALPINDI - Strongly regretting outright allegation on ISI DG that he was responsible for murderous attack on senior journalist and anchorperson Hamid Mir, ISPR DG Major General Asim Bajwa has said that attack was conducted by miscreants.
Talking to a private TV channel, he said that legal and constitutional action was also being deliberated against this shameful allegation, which had resulted in global gross insult and degrading of an institution of Pakistan Army.
"I thank masses and media for strongly condemning this shameful propaganda aimed at an unsuccessful attempt  to malign ISI (Inter Service Intelligence), and standing by Pakistan Army and its institutions ", he stated. The government had formed a 3-judge commission to probe the issue – which was a prudent move and Army would fully cooperate with the commission, he added.
Responding to a question regarding continuous, intermittent display of picture of ISI director general, along with public accusations of his involvement, Gen Asim Bajwa said that ISI was globally maligned for 8 continuous hours.
"Pakistan Army was fully cognizant of all affairs and was in forefront for strengthening of democracy and freedom of speech," he resolved, adding that Army would also play its frontal role of defence of Pakistan with full force and vigour. "Such shameful allegations are but an endeavour to weaken the otherwise impregnable defence of the country", he declared.
